Will Arnett’s Batman in the LEGO Movie stood out in what was an ‘Awesome’ film, so much so that Warner Bros decided to give him his own film. L has been looking forward to this for a while, so we decided to go and see it on the preview weekend.
From the start, I found myself laughing out loud, then nervously looking around and realising that I wasn’t the only parent chuckling along. The film centres around LEGO Batman, obviously. Commissioner Gordon is retiring and his daughter Barbara Gordon is the new Commissioner, she wants to try some new methods of law enforcement. Batman finds himself adopting a small boy Dick Grayson, whilst continuing to battle his long running nemesis the Joker.
The focus of the film is teamwork, friendship and family and has some good messages behind it. The cast is superb with Will Arnett returning as Batman, and new to the LEGO franchise Zach Galifianakis as The Joker, Michael Cera as Dick Grayson, Rosario Dawson as Barbara Gordon and Ralph Fiennes as Alfred. I particularly enjoyed Cera’s portrayal of Robin which L now refers to as funny Robin. There are lots of references to the Batman and DC universe which are nice and plenty of content to keep adults and children entertained in different ways. Batman refers to being a ‘Master Builder’, but there is not much further reference to the LEGO Movie.
I enjoyed the LEGO Batman Movie and so did L. He loved it and was engrossed from start to finish, which for a 4-year-old is no mean feat. I would definitely recommend the LEGO Batman Movie; it’s not quite up there with the LEGO Movie, but is certainly enjoyable and entertaining.
The LEGO Batman Movie is released at cinemas in the United Kingdom on Friday 10th February 2017.

I took my son to watch this at the weekend. It was his first cinema trip, he's 3. His choice of film, I was not over enthusiastic on his choice. However I really enjoyed the film and I was laughing at parts too which made R laugh, there were a lot of adults laughing in our viewing. R did get a little bored halfway through but then after a wiggle in his seat and some chocolate he was OK and we made it to the end. He wants to go back and watch it again,

I'm hoping my older 2 will like this. Matthew doesn't like it when characters are in danger and Anya has an attention span of about 45 minutes! #TheLEGOLinky

Zach Galifianakis as the Joker. That makes the entire film worthwhile! I know I will be seeing this at some point with the kids. Thanks for sharing the review so I know what to expect.

I've loved the LEGO ps3 games for years, and now my son is old enough to enjoy the boxsets I am really pleased! He's been to see the movie, but with his dad; I can't wait till the movie goes into the kids club so I can go and see it too! I love the humour and the animations; they're so brilliant!
